Catechesis

Purpose

Catechesis is the mission of the whole Church and all are called to on-going and life-long catechesis. The mission of the Department of Catechesis is to support parishes in promoting and developing effective programs of catechesis for Catholic adults, young adults, youth, and children with a commitment to implementing the new evangelization envisioned by Vatican II and Pope John Paul II and the teachings promulgated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church to foster on-going conversion and faith seeking understanding.

"Over the years, I have often repeated the summons to the new evangelization. I do so again now, especially in order to insist that we must rekindle in ourselves the impetus of the beginnings and allow ourselves to be filled with the ardor of the apostolic preaching which followed Pentecost."
   - Pope John Paul II, At the Beginning of the Third Millennium, Novo Millennio Ineunte, 40
