Catholic Apologetics

Learning About the Catholic Faith

The word "Apologetics" comes from the Greek verb apologeiomai which means "to answer" or "to account for" or "to justify" as in giving a defense or account of oneself in a court of law. Apologetics, however, is far more than just positing a defense of our beliefs. Apologetics is always a form of evangelization. Apologetics in this context and in our current situation can be defined as: Using the principle sources of the Catholic Tradition to teach, spread, and defend the faith in order to bring others into a relationship with Christ and the Church.
