Father Robert Thames
Father Robert Thames, a priest with the Diocese Fort Worth, has worked in the mission fields of Mexico and Bolivia for most of his 40 years as a priest. He has developed a substantial program of pastoral care, medical clinics, and buildings – churches, clinics and schools in Bolivia. He has built a school in Cabezas, his rural parish, which opened in February 2004 and with the support of the Mission Council of the Diocese of Fort Worth, has been providing educational opportunities through the Educate the Children sponsor/child program.
In July of 2007 Bishop Kevin Vann visited Father Robert Thames. He traveled to various locations and parishes and celebrated Mass in some of the villages. He also toured Nuestra Señora Del Carmen School. Since his return, Bishop Vann has continued to support Father Thames’ work. Most recently, he was the main speaker at the 2009 Educate the Children Gala/fundraiser.
