Purpose
To provide an assortment of effective youth ministry training opportunities for all adults who work with youth.
Who:
Any person involved in ministry to, with, or for youth: youth ministers, coaches, pastors, directors of religious education, parents, catechists, retreat team leaders, Catholic school teachers, and other volunteers.
What:
The certificate in youth ministry training programs offered by the Diocesan Office of Youth Ministry are available to every parish and school in the Diocese of Fort Worth. The youth ministry certificate options provide training that responds to the particular needs of ministers from volunteers to full-time paid ministry leaders who are working with or want to work with adolescents. Entry level ministers with adolescents and/or ministers and with adolescents without formal training will gain the most from the
Basic Certificate Level One or
Level Two Certificate Programs. Volunteers serving as catechists may benefit most by taking the Adolescent Catechesis Certification. Leaders charged with implementing a comprehensive youth ministry program based on the national Catholic vision of youth ministry may benefit most from the
Youth Ministry Level Three and/or the
Pastoral Ministry Leadership Certificate. The different training options can also serve as a renewal of skills or continuing education for the seasoned youth leader. In addition to the different certificate options that the Diocese offers, there is also an advanced course in Youth Ministry Studies offered at the University of Dallas in collaboration with the Center for Ministry Development (see the
National Certificate in Youth Ministry program).
When:
The Certificate programs will be offered each year in as many parish host sites as we can arrange. If your parish is interested in hosting one or more of the Certificate levels, contact Kevin Prevou at (817) 560-2452 ext. 261 or
kprevou@fwdioc.org and ask for a
