Natural Family Planning (NFP) provides information so that you, as a couple, can learn to understand and appreciate your fertility. During each cycle a woman experiences times of fertility and infertility accompanied by specific signs. Natural Family Planning is the practice of observing and charting these fertility signs to determine accurately when a woman is fertile and when she is infertile. When you want to achieve pregnancy, NFP helps you identify the most fertile time. When you want to avoid pregnancy, you abstain from genital contact during the fertile time.
NFP can be used in ANY cycle regardless of the woman's circumstances, including regular cycles, irregular cycles, breastfeeding, pre-menopause, or low fertility. Natural Family Planning is up to 99% effective in spacing births. To learn more contact a qualified instructor and visit the links below for more information.
Learning to observe and interpret the signs of fertility is not difficult. Observations take only a few minutes each day. However, it is important that you learn NFP from qualified instructors.
Three different methods of Natural Family Planning (NFP) are taught in various locations in the Diocese of Fort Worth. Visit the links below to learn more about these methods and who the instructors are. Feel free to contact the Diocesan NFP Coordinator to determine which method is right for you. Engaged and married couples are encouraged to attend the sessions together.
