The John Paul II Institute (JP2) of the Diocese of Fort Worth forms lay Catholics to serve as ecclesial ministers by teaching Scripture and Christian doctrine, by training in various ministerial areas, and by providing experiences of human development and spiritual enrichment. JP2 programs are conducted in both English and Spanish.

Goals

JP2’s two-year program in various church ministries seeks to: 1) deepen participants’ knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church’s beliefs, traditions, and practices; 2) enhance participants’ relationship with God by diverse experiences of prayer and liturgy; and 3) train participants (or enhance their capacity) to serve in various ministries. In 2015 JP2 plans to initiate a year of service ministry enrichment to prepare already commissioned ministers for leadership in lay ministry.

Who can participate?

All Catholics of at least eighteen years old and currently serving or intending to serve as lay ministers in a parish or diocesan agency may apply to participate in JP2. The pastor’s or agency head’s approval is necessary for admission.
