Note: This may not necessarily be a complete list of sessions. Volunteers unable to attend any of the sessions listed are advised to contact your nearest parish(es) to inquire about an updated schedule of sessions.

What are the different Safe Environment Trainings?

  • Initial Session: Sessions for adults to teach employees and/or volunteers about recognizing boundaries, how to respond if boundaries are broken, and how to report boundary violations (employees/volunteers including trainers, must attend an initial session or re-training session every three years).
  • Retraining: Employees and volunteers who have participated in the initial training. Participants must have attended the initial session (employees/volunteers including trainers, must attend a session or re-training session every three years).
  • Teen Leader Safe Environment: For teens wishing to volunteer in a ministry in parishes or schools. Must also go though Called to Protect for Youth Program taught in Catholic Schools and Parish Religious Education programs.

Past Safe Environment Sessions

The following are Safe Environment Sessions that have occurred from 2003 to the present. These sessions are part of the Safe Environment Program which includes a mandatory training program for clergy, school personnel, volunteers and seminarians.

As of 2009 more than 30,491 people have participated in the training, designed by Praesidium, Inc. This program provides the essential safeguard of educating parents and all persons who are responsible for children and youth in our parishes and schools.
